Bob King was selected last month to take a position as part of the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists.

Governor Nathan Deal appointed King, who is coordinator of the Dawson County Treatment Court, to the composite board.

King described the appointment as an honor.

It is great to receive this type of recognition and validation for ethical standards within the social work profession, said King, but it also serves as validation for our program here in Dawson County.

In order to protect the health, safety and welfare of the people of Georgia, the ten-member state board is charged by law with regulating the practice of professional counseling, social work, and marriage and family therapy.

The board is also responsible for reviewing new applicants to the counseling field and reviewing ethics issues and establishing guidelines.
