Hundreds of area children fought for 2,000 Easter eggs at the annual KARE for Kids Easter Egg Hunt, held April 7 at Veterans Memorial Park. "Our main goal is to just make sure ... everything goes pretty smooth," said Calvin Byrd, KARE president. "The Dawson County parks system does a great job allowing us to use their facilities, and the War Hill Church volunteers, along with our regular KARE volunteers, were tremendous." Also at the event, Walter McCoy won the Krystal burger eating contest by eating nine burgers in three minutes.
