A Gainesville man on work release who apparently skipped out from Hall County was taken into custody at gunpoint at a Dawsonville motel over the weekend.

Michael Keith Coker, 21, was apprehended at Amicalola Lodge, on Highway 53 West, on Saturday.

He apparently skipped the last day of the month, Sept. 30, and didnt return, said Dawson County Sheriffs Capt. Tony Wooten.

Dawson County authorities were notified by Hall County that Coker might be at the motel. However, before Dawson deputies could respond, Coker reportedly took off on foot into some nearby woods.

Dawson County Sheriffs Cpl. Jimmi Smith waited at the motel for two hours before Coker returned from the woods, at which time Coker was arrested at gunpoint.

Coker is charged with felony escape. Wooten said Cokers original charges relate to child molestation and that he also faces a probation violation charge for failure to register as a sex offender. Coker is in custody in Hall County.
