The Lady Tigers softball team enjoyed three victories last week, pushing their winning streak to four games. The wins helped Dawson maintain second place in the Region 7-AAA standings and solidified their playoff hopes.

The Lady Tigers started the week with a 4-0 victory over the visiting Chestatee Lady War Eagles on Monday, Sept. 15. Dawson scored three runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth to help them secure the win. Chestatee struggled against the Lady Tigers pitching and failed to put any runs on the board.

Dawsons next game pitted them against rival White County on Wednesday, Sept. 17. The game turned out to be a pitchers duel as both starting pitchers kept the opposing offenses from scoring for five straight innings. The Lady Tigers benefited from three defensive miscues by the Lady Warriors and were able to break the scoring barrier in the sixth inning for the games only run scored. Dawson took the 1-0 victory in the away contest.

The following day, the Lady Tigers took to their home diamond in region action against Fannin County. Dawson grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Fannin bounced back by scoring four runs in the top of the third to take a 4-1 lead. The Lady Tigers offense exploded in the bottom of the fifth as they plated eight runs to take a commanding 9-4 lead.

The eight run rally in the fifth proved enough for Dawson as they took the game 9-4 and earned their fourth consecutive win.

With just three regular season games remaining, the Lady Tigers win streak has solidified a spot in the playoffs. The teams record currently sits at 13-3-1 overall and 7-2 in the region.

The remaining three contests will all be versus region foes and give Dawson the chance to reclaim first place in the region standings.

The Lady Tigers will have just that opportunity when they square off against the number one ranked team in Region 7-AAA in an away game at Banks County on Thursday, Sept. 25. First pitch is at 5:55 p.m.
