pickens wreck

A two-vehicle wreck in Pickens County required the services of Dawson County Emergency Services, on the morning of June 21.

Sandra Summers of Cumming was traveling westbound on Hwy. 53 in Pickens when her vehicle crossed over the center line and she overcorrected, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Her vehicle then spun counterclockwise, with the right side striking a Toyota Camry traveling eastbound on Hwy. 53, driven by Ashley Murphy of Ball Ground.

"Currently it is not a fatal accident," said Sgt. Tim Nichols with the GPS, "but it is a severe accident."

Summers and her daughter were airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center, while a third passenger in Summers' vehicle, a 17-year-old male from Dawsonville, was transported via ground to Kennestone. Murphy was also transported to Kennestone.

According to Nichols, charges are pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
