Dawson wrestlers win Amicalola Classic

For the first time in nine years, the Dawson County varsity wrestling squad took the top spot in the Amicalola Classic Tournament.

Last weekend, the Tigers earned 310 total points to defeat runner-up Buford (210), third-place Towns County (180), and fourth-place Murphy N.C. (141.5) in the event held at Dawson County High School.

In round one, Dawson County took on East Jackson, earning a 66-16 team victory.

The Tigers then dominated Walnut Grove 69-12 in round two.

Dawson County defeated Towns County in the third round, then earned a 72-10 victory over Chattooga in the fourth round.
