Dawson Tigers in playoff hunt

Its a long season and almost every game matters.

Thanks to Dawson Countys crushing 42-0 defeat of East Hall the first week of the season, the Tigers are currently occupying fourth place in Region 7-AAA.

Dawson (5-4 overall, 3-3 in region) will control its playoff destiny this Friday against West Hall.

With region fifth place team East Hall (2-4 in region) taking on Fannin County (1-5 in region) this week, the Tigers cant afford to let West Hall match their 3-4 region record on the last weekend of the regular season.

Dawson will travel to Oakwood to take on a West Hall team that is coming off a 42-7 whipping by White County.

The Spartans have scored an average of just 16 points per game but have allowed almost 27, while the Tigers have averaged 34 while giving up 23.

Dawson comes into the game looking for its sixth win of the season. The Tigers rebounded from a heartbreaking 47-42 loss to White County two weeks ago with a massive 54-12 beating of Fannin County in Blue Ridge last Friday.

The Region 7-AAA race is beginning to take shape with North Hall in the top spot, followed by a Buford team that holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over White County as both teams are 4-2 in the region.

A jump to third place in the region is out of the question for Dawson taking into account the head-to-head losses against Buford and White County earlier this season.

Dawson is scheduled to kickoff against West Hall at 7:30 this Friday.
