Two women and three children were injured in an accident on Dawson Forest Road and Highway 53, Friday afternoon, May 17.

Cheryl Sneed, 54, of Dawsonville was traveling west on Highway 53 and attempted to turn her 2002 Buick Rendezvous SUV left onto Dawson Forest Road. When she turned, her SUV was struck by a 2010 Honda Accord driven by Emily Holbrook, 30, of Dawsonville, said Robin Stone, public information officer for the Georgia State Patrol.

Sneed and her two passengers, a 7-year-old and a 9-year-old, were taken to Northside Forsyth Hospital. Sneed was treated for unspecified injuries and her passengers were treated for injuries to their upper extremities.

Holbrook also was taken to Northside Forsyth and treated for injuries to her face. Her 6-year old passenger was taken Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta.

Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the crash, the patrol said.

Both drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts. Sneed was cited for failure to yield while turning left.

No other major wrecks were reported over the weekend, even with wet weather conditions.

"We're asking folks to slow down and be mindful," Stone said. "Remember to keep space between cars and wear seatbelts."
