City elections are Tuesday

Election Day for the city of Dawsonville will be held on November 8, for the offices of Mayor and two city council seats.

This years candidates for city council seats are Frank Craft, Chris Gaines, Jason Power, Mike Sosebee (incumbent) and Mike Wilson (incumbent). Mayor Joe Lane Cox will be running unopposed.

The poll will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Absentee and advance voting will end Friday, November 4, at 5 p.m. The location of absentee/advance voting is at the Board of Elections Office located at 96 Academy Avenue.

The Dawson County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a forum for all qualified candidates on Friday, Nov. 4 at Dawson County Middle School. There will be an open meet and greet from 5-5:55 p.m., and the forum will begin at 6 p.m. Voters are encouraged to attend the forum and get to know the candidates.

This years ballot will also include the special election for Sunday Retail Package Sales within the City of Dawsonville. For more information on voting, please contact the Dawson County Board of Elections and Registration at 706-344-3640.
