Golf Boarding

Chestatee Golf Course in Dawson County is the first course in north Georgia to offer players a new way of traversing the links.

Forget the golf cart. Forget walking.

Todays younger players are golf boarding.

This is a new addition to the golf industry, said Brittany McCoy, membership and event director for the Chestatee course. Its an entirely new way to experience the terrain, and it cuts play time in half.

Winner of the Best New Product in the 2014 PGA merchandise show, the golf board feels like a skateboard or surfboard, according to golfboard.com

Its like youre surfing the earth, McCoy said. You can feel the terrain the same way youd feel the ocean if youre on a surfboard. And, you can roll all over the entire fairway and right up to the green.

In a traditional golf cart, players stay together and drive to each players ball and then back, McCoy explained.

But, with the golf board, each player goes directly to their ball. Thats how the game gets sped up. And, theres 75 percent less wear on the course.

Chestatee leased a fleet of golf boards, which are currently available of rent.

If someone wants to ride the golf board, there is a $7 fee added to their regular fee, McCoy said. And players need to watch a short safety video, and sign a waiver.
