A Dawsonville man escaped without injury after a tire blew out, causing his truck to wreck.

On Sept. 18 at 12:50 p.m., Ronald McManus, 60, of Dawsonville was driving east on Dawson Forest Road when his left front tire blew out, he told the Georgia State Patrol. The truck veered off the road and struck an embankment and several trees, GSP spokeswoman Robin Stone said.

McManus was driving a 1975 GMC C7500, a medium- to heavy-duty truck owned by Dowda House Movers of Alpharetta. The truck was carrying a load of large beams.

McManus and his passenger, Tommy Ray, 55, of Dawsonville were wearing seatbelts; neither alcohol nor drugs were not a factor in the accident, investigators said. Neither man was injured.

McManus was issued a citation for an expired tag and tire requirements.
