A two-car collision at the intersection of Highway 53 and Highway 183 on Saturday claimed the life of one of the passengers - a woman from Naples, Fla. Traffic was at a standstill following the accident on Saturday morning.

Robert Erausquin, 85 of Swanton, Ohio, was traveling east on Highway 183 when he failed to stop at the stop sign. Anthony Wayne Barber, 46, of Dawsonville was driving his Chevrolet Colorado truck on Highway 53 when he struck Erausquins gold Chevrolet Uplander minivan on the front passengers side. Erausquins passenger, June Schuh, 72, of Naples, Fla., died at the scene.

Erausquin was transported by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for non-fatal injuries. Updates on his condition were not available at presstime. Erausquin has been charged with failure to stop at a stop sign.

Barber did not suffer any injuries. He was arrested at the scene for driving while his license is suspended. He is currently being held at Dawson County Detention Center. Drugs, alcohol, or speed were not a factor. Currently, there are no other charges pending on Barber.
