The Dawson County Lady Tigers 12U All-Star team is headed to the state tournament.
The Lady Tigers had a winning weekend in district competition Friday and Saturday. The girls swept Habersham County 47-15, Jackson County 57-12, and Barrrow County 57-23.
The Lady Tigers put on an offensive show this weekend, Dawson County Parks and Recreation Athletic Director Zak Moore said. We are all very proud and know these girls will represent Dawson County well in the state tournament.
Top scorers in the tournament were Marlie Odum with a total of 59 points in all three games, Madison Anglin with 31 points, Kinsey Beaty with 20 points and Rachel Swafford with 19.
Also scoring were Mariah Benson with 16 pointsthrough the tournament, Isabella Tinsley with 5, Mattie Grant with 4, Avery Young 3, and Jena Lecours 2.
I am very excited about the girls heading to state, Coach Stephanie Sosebee said. They have worked so hard and if they play the way they did at District I know they can go all the way and win State.
Sosebee said the team listens well and transitions well from practice to game situations.
Also on the team, but unable to play due to injury, is Katya Bessiere. In addition to Sosebee, the girls are coached by Jacob Tinsleyand Cassidy Lecours.
The Lady Tigers are headed to Georgia Recreation and Park Association State Tournament in Carrolton Friday and Saturday, March 7-8.
