Dawson Countys 10 and Under Park and Rec football team is headed to the Super Bowl.

The team will play Rabun County in Rabun at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The team reached the Super Bowl Saturday by winning its second-round championship playoff game. It beat the Jefferson County team 8-0.

The winning play came in the last minute of the game, head coach Chad Cofield said. Quarterback Chris Cofield threw a shuffle pass to running back Brandon Lantz for a 25-yard run. The point-after was kicked by Caleb Bonesteel.

Its awesome to be this close to the Super Bowl, linebacker Brendan Swafford said. It got your adrenaline pumping.

The win, however, was not without challenges. It was tough, quarterback Chris Cofield said. They had a really good defense.

Cofield and Swafford said they are going to practice wrapping up and blocking this week.

I feel good about this game, Coach Cofield said. Cofield has coached the team for six years. We have a really good coaching staff this year whove put a lot of hours in for them.

And what happens if the team wins on Saturday?

Im going to go crazy and go home and celebrate with friends and family, Swafford said.
