A Dawson County teen was killed and four people injured in a two- vehicle wreck Monday afternoon near Kelly Bridge and Coltrane roads in southwestern Dawson County.

Authorities said Tyler Hutchinson, 18, was not wearing a seat belt when he was thrown from a Ford Probe driven by a Cumming woman.

Another passenger, a teenager from Dawson County, was taken to North Fulton Medical Center in critical condition.

Dawson County Sheriff's Deputy Russell Smith said the driver of the second vehicle and her young child were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with minor injuries.

The driver of the Probe was also taken to the hospital in Gainesville, authorities said. The names of those involved have not been released.

The wreck, which occurred about 4:30 p.m., was turned over to Georgia State Patrol.

An operator with the Cumming post of the state patrol said the agency's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team would return to the scene later today to try to determine what caused the wreck.

As of this morning, no charges had been filed pending the outcome of the state patrol investigation.

Sheriff's Lt. Tony Wooten said he would not speculate on the cause of the wreck until the patrol completes the investigation.

The wreck marks Dawson County's first traffic-related death of 2009.

There were 10 traffic-related deaths in Dawson County in 2008.

Nearly half of those killed in 2008 were not wearing seat belts and were thrown from vehicles, authorities said.
