A Dawsonville woman was arrested last week after she reportedly took a Department of Natural Resources pickup truck from Amicalola Falls State Park.

Jessica Ellice Hart, 41, was charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle Aug. 2, a day after authorities said she drove off in a 1999 Ford F-250 that had been parked at a loading dock.

"It is believed that the keys were left in the truck," said Dawson County Sheriff's Maj. Tony Wooten. "The truck had only been left there 10-20 minutes, and they called immediately upon learning it was gone."

Hart and the pickup were found in Habersham County, where authorities took her into custody.

Wooten said the theft occurred sometime between 11:30 p.m. and midnight Thursday just a few miles from Hwy. 52 and Bailey Waters Road, where Hart's vehicle had been abandoned.

It was not immediately clear if Hart's truck had run out of gas or had a mechanical breakdown.

She was released from the Dawson County Detention Center on Aug. 5 after posting a $10,200 bond, according to jail records.
