An unidentified woman died from injuries sustained in a wreck on Hwy. 52 in northwestern Dawson County Friday evening.

Dawson County Coroner Ted Bearden said authorities continue to work to try to identify the woman, who reportedly was driving a truck when she crashed near the Dawson-Gilmer County line.

According to local deputies, officers in Gilmer County were in pursuit of the vehicle when the driver crossed over into Dawson County.

The woman crashed a short time later.

Dawson County Sheriff Billy Carlisle said he was told the truck had been reported stolen.

Georgia State Patrol spokeswoman Robin Stone said she could not release any information on the crash as of Tuesday afternoon.

"They're still trying to positively identify the driver," she said.

The woman's death marks the seventh fatality on Dawson County roads since the beginning of the year.
