The bodies of two men have been found in Fredericks Cove on Lake Lanier near the site where two Dawson County young men reportedly went missing on Jan. 2.
According to Dawson County Sheriff's Maj. Tony Wooten, the Hall County Dive Team recovered the bodies after Department of Natural Resources' sonar hit on two objects in the water.
"The bodies will be sent to the GBI crime lab for positive identification," Wooten said.
It's been more than a week since Mason Cox and David Wood, both 20, seemingly vanished after a night of fishing from a dock in the area of Fredericks Cove off Ga. 400.
According to their parents, the young men said they were headed out to go fishing about 3:30 a.m. Jan. 2 and would return later to spend the day with the families.
Divers were unable to go into the lake until Friday due to extreme temperatures and nearly an inch of ice blanketing the cove.
