A Dawson County Middle School teacher faces felony drug charges after his arrest earlier this month in Forsyth County.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s investigators say 35-year-old Clinton Ernest Pruitt was released from the Forsyth County jail on July 14 after posting $27,500 bond.

Pruitt, a Forsyth County resident, has been charged with possession with intent to distribute 14 grams of methamphetamine.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s Lt. Col. Gene Moss said Pruitt bought the drugs from an undercover operative in a parking lot on Hammond Industrial Drive, off Browns Bridge Road in northeastern Forsyth County.

“He’d been under investigation,” Moss said Thursday. “It came to our attention he was wanting to buy methamphetamine.”

Dawson County School Superintendent Keith Porter said Thursday that Pruitt remains employed by the school system, though officials “will be monitoring the investigation and take appropriate actions if necessary.”

“We’re aware of the seriousness of the allegations,” Porter said.

According to Porter, Pruitt is a teacher at Dawson County Middle School, but also has worked at Riverview, the district’s other middle school.
