Two construction workers remained in custody Tuesday, four days after they were arrested for an alleged sexual assault at a local motel.

Bond has been denied for Brandon Knol Kapherr, 20, of Ringgold and Jessie Lee Harrison, 22, of Georgetown, Tenn., both of whom face drug and rape charges.

The men were arrested Saturday after authorities received a report the two had assaulted a woman in a motel room.

Lt. Tony Wooten with the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office said the woman voluntarily left with the men after meeting them Friday night at a local restaurant.

She reported the incident to sheriff’s officials the next day, according to jail records.

“During the course of the investigation, Investigator Ken Cannon was able to obtain probable cause leading him to believe a sexual-related crime had occurred at the motel room and obtained warrants,” Wooten said.

“He and Investigator Jennifer Wright also learned that there were potential prescription drugs involved.”

Kapherr was charged with rape, aggravated sodomy, sexual battery and three counts of possession of a controlled substance (prescription pills). Other charges include false imprisonment and theft by taking.

“The theft by taking charge stems from them taking the victim’s prescription medications without her consent,” Wooten said.

Harrison was charged with criminal attempt to commit rape, sodomy and two counts of sexual battery. He also faces charges of false imprisonment, theft by taking and three counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Associate Magistrate Judge Lisa Thurmond denied bond for both suspects. The case was bound over to Superior Court, Wooten said.
