The south Forsyth mother and two young sons who were killed in their home last week will be laid to rest and memorialized together Sunday.

Memorial services for Rebecca Jo "Beckie" Manning, 37, Jacob Jerry Dean Smith, 9, and Jared Will Smith, 8, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel in Dawsonville.

All three were born and raised in Forsyth County, with the brothers having attended Johns Creek Elementary School.

They have been described as loving and happy. They "loved horses, spending time at the lake and all of the farm animals at their grandparents' home."

Manning and her sons were shot to death by her 32-year-old longtime boyfriend in the early morning hours of July 22 after the two reportedly had a verbal fight the night before.

He also shot Manning's father, Jerry David Manning, who lived at the residence and was taken to the hospital in critical condition with gunshot wounds. He remains hospitalized.

After the rampage, the shooter called his mother to tell her he had killed the family and was about to shoot himself.

She called 911, but he was dead when deputies arrived. The boys were found in their beds.

Rebecca Manning succumbed to her injuries a short time later at the hospital.

Her other survivors include a brother, Michael Manning; the boys' father, Robbie S. Smith; his parents, Gary and Laura Smith; and other aunts, uncles, step-grandparents and step-siblings.

The family will receive friends from noon until the service begins Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to help offset final expenses. A memorial fund has been established at any Wells Fargo branch under the Rebecca Manning and Smith Family fund.
