A Dawsonville man convicted last month of sex crimes against children has received a 20-year sentence with the first 12 to be served in prison.

Jose Francisco Gonzalez, 41, may have his probation suspended upon his deportation after serving the prison time, according to court records.

The charges stem from incidents that took place in southeastern Dawson County between June 2012 and May 2013. According to the sheriff's reports, the girls, who are both younger than 16, reported the abuse to authorities.

A jury found Gonzalez, who has been in Dawson County Sheriff's custody since his arrest June 14, guilty of child molestation and one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes Jan. 30.

He was acquitted of two sexual battery counts and a second child enticement charge.
