A man who had been living at the Best Western along Ga. 400 in Dawsonville was arrested last week for allegedly sexually assaulting an employee at the motel, authorities said.

According to the Dawson County Sheriff's Office, 26-year-old Kalen Kuske Crandell, whose permanent address is listed as Fort Dodge, Iowa, was charged with rape, battery and false imprisonment on Thursday. The charges are felonies.

He is being held without bond at the Hall County Detention Center.

The sexual assault reportedly occurred Nov. 1, but was not reported until late last week.

Sheriff's Maj. Ray Goodie said the woman is in her early 20s and was familiar with Crandell.

"He had been living there for the last couple months, so there had been some contact with each other," he said.

Crandell also faces a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge after authorities found less than an ounce of suspected marijuana during a search of the room where he was staying, according to Goodie.
