A Dawsonville man faces nearly a dozen felony charges for sexual exploitation of children after he reportedly made contact with a teen over the Internet.

Dustin G. Ingram, 25, was taken into custody Monday night after authorities from Pennsylvania contacted local investigators about a possible child predator, said Dawson County Sheriff’s Lt. Tony Wooten.

Wooten said Ingram, posing as a 16-year-old girl, reportedly received pornographic images in mid-April over the Internet from a 14-year-old Pennsylvania girl.

Dawson County investigators say additional charges are likely.

“We’ve found hundreds of pornographic images on computers from his home — still and video — of children from toddlers to teens,” Wooten said.

The computers have been turned over to Georgia Bureau of Investigations for forensic analysis, he said.

Wooten urged parents to look at the arrest as another example of why they should keep close tabs on their children’s phone and Internet activity.

“Parents have to understand predators are out there,” he said. “They pretend to be juveniles to make kids feel at ease so they can commit crimes against children.”

As of Tuesday, Ingram was being held without bond at the Dawson County Detention Center, awaiting a hearing in Magistrate Court.
