A 64-year-old Dawson County man was arrested Monday afternoon in connection with what authorities are calling a suspicious fire.

According to Dawson County Jail records, Gerald Wayne Fillman was charged with felony third degree arson and engaging in activities related to the use of fire-ignited items, a misdemeanor. Bond has not been set

Dawson County Fire Marshal Tim Satterfield said Fillman owned and lived in the singlewide mobile home at 2166 Dawson Forest Road that went up in flames Monday morning.

Crews contained the fire to the structure, which was determined to be a complete loss.

"[Fillman] was on the property when fire personnel arrived on the scene," Satterfield said.

He was arrested a short time later.

Satterfield said the fire remains under investigation.

"I should be able to release more about the case [soon]," he said.
