A Dawsonville man was arrested overnight Monday in connection with an alleged sexual assault of a teen girl.

Randall Leroy Piper, 50, is charged with aggravated child molestation, according to jail records.

Dawson County Sheriff's spokesman Capt. Tony Wooten said the alleged incidents occurred between August and November of last year.

"The female victim is under the age of 16," he said.

Piper's relationship to the girl was not disclosed.

He is being held in custody at the Dawson County jail.

As of Tuesday afternoon, he had not appeared before a judge and bond had not been set.

If convicted, aggravated child molestation carries a life sentence with a mandatory 25 years to serve in prison.
