A Dawson County Sheriff's employee is on unpaid administrative leave following his arrest over the weekend on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Robert Bo Tanner, 25, of Murrayville was taken into custody Saturday night at a residence in downtown Dawsonville.

"We received a call into the 911 center advising us that the subject had been drinking and would be traveling to a house inside the city limits in Dawson County," said Sheriff's Capt. Tony Wooten. "Officers were dispatched and on arrival made contact with him."

An administered field breath test indicated his blood-alcohol level at .104. The legal limit is .08 percent.

Wooten said Tanner, who has been employed with the sheriff's office as a jailer since 2011, has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation.

"The public demands that law enforcement officers be held to a higher standard and we agree that we should be," Wooten said.

Tanner was released from the Dawson County Detention Center after posting a $1,200 bond Sunday, according to jail records.
