A Dawson County Sheriff's employee was terminated Monday, weeks after his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Robert Bo Tanner, 25, of Murrayville had been on unpaid administrative leave since his arrest on March 29, when deputies received a report that he was driving to a home near downtown Dawsonville after drinking.

Upon finding Tanner, deputies administered a field breath test that indicated his blood alcohol level at .104, according to Dawson County Sheriff's Capt. Tony Wooten. The legal limit is .08 percent.

"This type of behavior will not be tolerated by employees that are sworn to uphold the public's trust," Wooten said.

Tanner, who had been employed with the sheriff's office as a jailer since 2011, was placed on leave pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation.
