A Florida man was taken into custody in Dawson County last week and charged with child molestation.

Kevin B. Simkins, 50, of Pensacola, Fla., was arrested Friday following a report that he had molested a 12-year-old girl at a local motel.

Simkins, who was in town visiting relatives at the time of the alleged assault, is being held without bail in the Dawson County Detention Center, said Dawson County Sheriff’s Lt. Tony Wooten.

Simkins is charged with two counts of child molestation and one count of aggravated child molestation, Wooten said.

“The severe charges in the case require that it be turned over to Superior Court,” he said.

Authorities say Simkins has previously been arrested on similar charges in Florida.
