Authorities are investigating a report that two men assaulted and robbed another at the Kangaroo gas station in Dawson County near Ga. 400 last week.

According to Dawson County Sheriff's Capt. Tony Wooten, the incident occurred just before 7 a.m. June 19, as the alleged victim walked from the store back to his car in the parking lot.

"He said a black male and a white male in a white van jumped him, knocked him to the ground and stole his prescription narcotics," he said. "Nothing else was taken, only the pills."

Deputies are reviewing surveillance footage from the store. The case remains under investigation.

The alleged assault and robbery comes exactly a week after a downtown Dawsonville hair salon was robbed at gunpoint by a masked assailant.

Authorities say there is no indication at this point that the two events are connected.

According to Lt. Daniel Ramsey of the Dawson County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division, the man who robbed the salon was a "white male, about 5'11," average build, wearing grey-colored jeans and a black or blue hooded sweat shirt and a blue, canvas-style cover over his face.

Anyone with information on either case is asked to call the Dawson County Sheriff's Office at (706) 344-3535.
