A Dawsonville man was arrested last month on three counts of child molestation.
Dawson County Sheriff Billy Carlisle said the charges against 48-year-old Chaney Wayne Allen stem from incidents that allegedly occurred in mid-December.
Allen, who was taken into custody March 24, is accused of sexually molesting a 7-year-old girl.
"The victim is the daughter of a friend of the family," said Maj. Ray Goodie, commander of the sheriff's criminal investigation division.
"The incident took place in the suspect's house, and it is a case we had reported in December that we have been working on since then."
Allen had a first appearance and bond hearing on March 28. A motion to have a reasonable bond set was filed April 4, according to court records.
Public Defender Rob McNeill is listed as his attorney.
Allen remained in custody as of Tuesday afternoon.
Jail records show his bond was set at $90,000 by Superior Court Judge Jason Deal.
