A Dawsonville man has been charged with felony aggravated assault in connection with a shooting Thursday afternoon off Kelly Bridge Road in southwestern Dawson County.

Paul Henry Truelove, 58, was arrested at a mobile home on Cletus Nichols Road shortly after Dawson County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a shooting there.

Authorities say Truelove, who remains in custody, fired a shotgun at another man during a dispute. The man's name has not been released.

"It started out as a verbal altercation that resulted in a shooting incident where the victim sustained minor injuries," said Sheriff's Capt. Ray Goodie.

The man was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was treated and released, according to Goodie.

The investigation is ongoing.
