Cases of COVID-19 in Dawson County continue to fall for the second week in a row, according to data from the Georgia Department of Public Health’s daily COVID-19 status report.
In the past week, 59 positive cases of the virus have been reported locally - a sharp decline from the record-high number of cases the county experienced in late August when as many as 30 new cases were reported in a single day.
Over the past six months, a total of 726 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Dawson County, along with 70 hospitalizations and 7 deaths. No new hospitalizations or deaths were reported over the past week, according to the DPH.
In Georgia, nearly 14,300 new cases were reported over the past week, along with 951 new hospitalizations and 433 deaths. More than 6,000 Georgians have died due to the virus, according to the DPH, and 24,572 people have been hospitalized in Georgia due to COVID-19.
