Workforce development crew coming to Dawson County

Those interested in working on finishing that much-needed GED or learning new workforce skills will have the opportunity to get all the help they need.

The Georgia Mountains Workforce Development Overview, in connection with the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission, will be stationed at Lanier Technical College beginning at 11 a.m. today.

The session will introduce potential customers to the services and requirements of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).

The WIOA provides education and training to eligible adults 18 years and above seeking to enhance their current skills, learn a new trade, or obtain their General Education Diploma (GED).

Individuals seeking assistance through the GMWD must be a resident in one of our 13 counties or is/was employed by a company whose business is/was within the Georgia Mountains service area.

The GMWD service area is made up of Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union and White counties.
