The Dawson County Jaycees will kickoff the new year Friday at noon when the group welcomes Gene Bishop as its guest speaker.
A Dawson County resident, Bishop served as the national president of the United States Junior Chamber International Senate.
“Our January speaker, Mr. Gene Bishop, has served the Jaycees extensively—up to holding positions within the International Senate,” said Katie Abraham, president of the Dawson County Jaycees.
“We are excited to start 2011 with a peak into his vast business experience with our health care system and his current projects in South Africa,” Abraham said.
Bishop has held the offices of president of the North Fulton County Chamber of Commerce, president of the Georgia Health Care Association and regional vice-president, first vice-president and national president of the American Health Care Association.
Bishop also holds close, personal relationships with prominent political figures and at one time served as campaign manager for U.S. Congressman William Stuckey.
The Jaycees monthly luncheon meeting will be held at noon Friday at Chestatee Golf Club’s Heron Grille.
“The Jaycees organization offers young professionals the opportunity to become involved in their community and pool their resources, both on a career and personal level,” Abraham said.
The group will be discussing 2011 calendar events and upcoming opportunities to assist the local community.
