Dirt is being moved to make way for a new restaurant in Dawson County and the first Culver's in the state of Georgia.

A formal ground breaking ceremony is planned for 1:30 p.m. Friday

The new restaurant, located at 252 South 400 Center Lane, between Captain D's and Zaxby's, will seat 108 guests and is expected to be completed within 120 days.

Among the guests at Friday's ground breaking will be Culver's co-founder Craig Culver.

The community is invited to the celebration.

"Dawson County has the unique distinction of being the first location for a Culver's in the entire State of Georgia," said Charlie Auvermann, executive director of the Development Authority of Dawson County. "More restaurants are expected around the state in coming months."

Tapasvi Jaiswal and business partner Manish Shah will be the owner/operators of the restaurant. Jaiswal was introduced to Culver's in 2001 while working for a software company that supported Culver's restaurants. He persuaded Shah to join him in the new venture.

Culver's is an expanding fast-casual franchise chain with more than 550 independently owned and operated restaurants in 22 states.

The restaurants' award-winning customer service is based on small-town, Midwestern values, genuine friendliness and an unwavering commitment to quality and cleanliness, according to a news release from the restaurant.

Signature items include the ButterBurger, (from the lightly buttered bun) made from fresh, never frozen U.S. beef, and fresh Frozen Custard, including the signature Flavor of the Day program.
