Several local restaurants are donating a portion of their profits Nov. 16 to benefit the community.

Now in its second year, Dawson Dines the United Way has a goal to raise $2,000.

“Last year, we kind of threw this together at the last minute, and we had pretty good success,” said United Way board chairman Jay Sessions.

The funds will be dispersed to 13 area health and human agencies and countless individuals and families served by United Way for Dawson County.

As of Monday, Fajita Grill, The Blue Bicycle, Kani House, Piazza and El Campesino had agreed to participate.

Sessions said he hopes other restaurants step up to the plate.

“This is a great way for local restaurants to participate in the United Way experience,” Sessions said. “We encourage everyone to have a dinner or lunch at one of our participating restaurants.”

Earlier this summer, United Way for Dawson County set its annual fundraising goal at $100,000. The campaign continues through the end of January.
