Cooperative gives back

Sawnee EMC employees have given back to the community in many ways throughout the past several months.

In November and December, employees donated more than 1,400 food items during a canned food and nonperishable food drive.

The products were donated to various shelters in their service area, which includes Dawson, Forsyth and Cherokee counties.

In a news release, Vice President of Members Services Blake House stated that employees have participated in the food drive “and several other community oriented programs for a number of years. They care about the communities they work and live in and these are small ways they feel they can give back.”

In addition, employees continuously mail care packages to soldiers overseas and raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life by hosting bake sales, soup cook offs and other various events.
