Charles Buckner, First Citizens Bank of Georgia, Dawsonville, was elected to the Board of Directors for Community Bankers Association of Georgia as member at large.

Nominations were announced and approved at the 41st annual Convention and Trade Show, which was held in September. CBA would like to congratulate Buckner and wish him a most successful year.

The Community Bankers Association of Georgia is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving community banks throughout Georgia for more than 40 years to enhance their profitability and growth. Founded in 1969 by a group of Georgia community bankers, CBA is the state’s only advocate working solely for the interests of community banks and their customers.

CBA was formed to protect the political interests of locally owned community banks and today proudly represents over 290 community banks and over 250 associate member companies. The association offers services in four distinct areas, which include political affairs, education, products and services and networking.

Board members are selected from 10 divisions across the state of Georgia, so all Georgia community banks are equally represented.

Board members are elected to a 1-year term, which begins Oct. 1, 2009.

During the course of the year, the directors will be involved in a number of items such as reviewing money-saving opportunities for members, CBA’s group meetings, planning sessions, PAC/PR golf tournaments, fundraising, first-class educational programs, legislative issues and more.
