Berg to address chamber of commerce

Chairman of the Dawson County Board of Commissioners Mike Berg is the guest speaker April 9 for the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce luncheon at Peach Brandy Cottage.

Berg, who gives the chamber membership a state of the county address annually, said he plans to take a different route for next week’s luncheon by including the impact the state and nation have on Dawson County.

“In my opinion, he has a better grip on that than anyone,” said Jay Walker, chairman of the chamber’s board of directors.

As with many presentations Berg has given in recent months, the county’s current budget will play a role in the discussion, as well as where the county needs to be for the current economic state.

“I want this to be positive. There’s a lot going on in Dawson County. We’re looked at as a leader across the state for our innovative measures,” he said.

Marty Williams, vice president of tourism for the chamber, said he expects the crowd at next week’s luncheon to be as large as it has been in recent years when Berg has spoken to the group.

“Everyone likes to come out to see what he has to say, because as a commissioner, he’s doing everything right and the way it needs to be done,” he said.

While reservations are not required for the luncheon, which begins at noon, the chamber asks those planning to attend to RSVP to (706) 265-6278 by April 6.
