Clark MacAllister, the University of Georgia extension agent for Dawson County, has recently been named to the Fruit and Vegetable 40 under 40 Class of 2021 list for his work and impact in the industry.
“It is an honor to be awarded the 40 under 40 fruit and vegetable industry award for 2021,” McAllister said. “I am thankful to be able to work with incredible Extension agents, university specialists, and fruit growers who allow me to work on projects that benefit Georgia agriculture.”
According to a release by Fruit Growers News, the 40 Under 40 awards seeks to recognize 40 individuals from all over the country who are making their marks on the fruit and vegetable growing industry.
“These 40 young professionals represent the best in the industry,” the release said. “The Fruit and Vegetable 40 Under 40 Class of 2021 will be honored at the Great Lakes Fruit, Vegetable and Farm Market Expo and recognized in the October 2021 issues of Fruit Growers News and Vegetable Growers News.”
MacAllister, who serves as the Agricultural and Natural Resources Agent for the University of Georgia Extension Office in Dawson and Lumpkin counties, was named to the list for his accomplishments in cultivation, education and research.
“He works extensively with wine grapes, where he conducts educational outreach and research in the areas of Pierce’s disease management, fungal disease control and canopy management,” the release said. “Clark also works with a wide range of fruit and vegetable producers, and he also helps manage a local farmers market.”
