On Thursday, April 1, Dawson County will officially cut the ribbon on the new Pauline Stephens Ivey Senior Center at Veterans Memorial Park.

Construction on the senior center, which was funded through a large donation from the Pauline Stephens Ivey Fund and a community block grant, began in 2017 and was completed in December 2020.

The new senior center offers a new building, resources and activities for elderly local residents and includes additions like a game room, movie room, kitchen, nurse’s office and a large multi-purpose space.

The ribbon-cutting will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April, 1 at Veterans Memorial Park, 237 Recreation Road in Dawson County.

The event will be hosted by the Dawson County Government and the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce and presented by ribbon-cutting sponsor Northside Hospital.

Light refreshments will be provided, and attendees will be invited to tour the new center after the ribbon cutting.
