Walter Reeves to speak in Dahlonega

The Georgia Mountains Master Gardeners would like to invite you to attend their next monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Sept. 9 in Dahlonega. Atlanta garden expert, radio and television host, and writer Walter Reeves will be the guest speaker. He will be presenting on environmentally responsible landscaping.

The meeting will take place at the Lumpkin County Parks and Recreation Building at 365 Riley Rd. in Dahlonega. It is free and open to the public. A large crowd is expected, so try to arrive early to find a parking space and a good seat.

Garden expert Walter Reeves is known as "The Georgia Gardener."

He is perhaps best known for hosting his Saturday morning radio show on WSB-Atlanta. "The Lawn and Garden Show with Walter Reeves" airs every Saturday from 6 to 10 a.m. on 95.5FM and AM750. Reeves has hosted the show for 20 years. He fields calls on numerous gardening and landscaping topics.

Reeves also spreads his gardening knowledge through newspapers, television and the Internet. He currently distributes a bi-weekly gardening newsletter. He is the author or co-author of nine gardening books. Many of his books are available on his Web site (www.walterreeves.com) or can be found on amazon.com.

Reeves hosted a television program titles "Your Southern Garden" on Georgia Public Television for several years. He can also be seen on the DIY Network on repeats of "Garden Sense."

Walter Reeves is a retired UGA Cooperative Extension Agent, and he is very supportive of Cooperative Extension programs such as 4-H and the Master Gardener program.
