Local community Paradise Valley Resort has raised $11,565 for The Place of Dawson at RIC-Rack. Resort members presented the nonprofit with a check on July 12.

This isn’t the resort’s first time donating to The Place. Last year, the resort gave the nonprofit over $10,000. Overall, Paradise Valley has been supporting The Place for eight years and is one of its largest donors, with some resort members coming weekly to donate.

Paradise Valley member Jack Crowther explained that his community’s monetary donations came in large part as a result of the resort’s rubber duck race held earlier this month.

Although $1,000 was given out in cash prizes, Crowther said most of the money comes back to causes like The Place.

For most of the proceeds, resort members requested that the money raised should go to the food pantry.

“They are so supportive of so many things in the community,” said The Place Workforce and Education Manager Tara Hardwick. “We’re just blessed to be the recipients of some of that.”
