Beginning on April 1, Ninth District Opportunity will open applications for home cooling assistance for elderly and medically homebound members of the community.
According to a press release by Ninth District, for the month of April applications are limited to households in which every member is 65 years or older or medically homebound due to health reasons. Qualifying households may apply to receive assistance with their air conditioning bills.
“One time payments will be made by check issued to the home energy suppliers up to $400,” the release said. “Eligibility for the program will be based on the income of all household members.”
Eligible applicants can contact Ninth District Opportunity and schedule an appointment by calling (855) 636-3108 or by visiting www.ndo.org/eap. The website and phone lines for scheduling will not be live until April 1, 2021, starting at 12:01 a.m. No appointments can be made until that date, the release said.
According to the release, appointments will be scheduled until all funds have been used. Only elderly or medically homebound households will be accepted in April and the general public can apply beginning on May 3.
