This October, the Feral Cat Program of Georgia (FCPGA) will host its annual “Catoberfest” fall fundraiser to support its initiative in the community.
According to a press release by the FCPGA, this year’s event will take place on Oct. 8 at Fowler Park in Cumming and run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will feature over 30 artists and vendor booths, food trucks, a DJ, family friendly fun and a silent auction with 50+ baskets, original artwork, jewelry, gift cards and more. Admission to the event is free.
Leading up to the event on Oct. 8, FCPGA will host an online auction beginning Sept. 29 and closing Oct. 5. Auction items available online include a photographic African safari for two and a luxury sty at Casa de Sofia in Manzanillo, Mexico. Catoberfest is the only fundraiser hosted each year by the rescue group, which helps with resources for the feral and stray cat population, networks with foster homes that care for and socialize rescued cats and kittens and partners with PetSmart Charities to hold adoption events each Saturday at the Dawsonville, Cumming and Alpharetta PetSmart locations.
“Each year, FCPGA receives hundreds of requests for help with unwanted cats and kittens from local animal control offices and individuals in the counties they serve,” the release said. “Shelters are currently experiencing more intakes than adoptions and are not equipped to care for sick, injured or pregnant cats. All proceeds from Catoberfest will go to FCPGA, enabling them to rescue more cats and kittens from overcrowded shelters and care for them until they are adopted.”
