Next week, Metro Market Media, the parent company of the Dawson County News, will host Dawson’s first fall Healthy Aging Expo.
The event will feature vendors, including health, dental and insurance providers, as well as demonstrations, expert speakers, entertainment and health screenings.
“It’s a great place for someone to go and get certain health screenings that they can’t always go freely get,” Megan Smarz, manager of event and regional publication sales, said in a press release.
Screenings may include fall risk screenings and diabetes screenings; they work to provide screenings that would otherwise require a referral from a doctor, she added.
Those attending can get a passport to prizes, which they must take to each vendor before being entered into a drawing. The first 150 participants to turn in their completed passport will receive a small gift, and three drawing winners will receive a $50 gift basket.
The Dawson expo will take place on Thursday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dawson Senior Center, located at 201 Recreation Road in Dawsonville. Metro Market Media also offers Healthy Aging Expos in the spring.
