On Friday July 9, the City of Dawsonville will host its monthly Food Truck Friday, as well as a special community movie night event at Main Street Park.
According to City of Dawsonville Event Coordinator Sara Beacham, the event will start with Food Truck Friday at the farmers market pavilion from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Several local food trucks will be in attendance with options for community members to purchase and enjoy in the pavilion or the park.
Starting at 9 p.m., there will then be a showing of Disney animated movie “Moana” in the Main Street Park amphitheater, sponsored by Local Church.
“Local Church is sponsoring it so they’re gonna set up the projector and everything for us,” Beacham said. “It worked out great that they wanted to do it in conjunction with the food truck night.”
The movie night will be open to anyone, and community members are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Local Church will also have a booth offering free face painting before the movie starts.
According to Beacham, this is the first event the city has used its amphitheater for, and she and other city officials are optimistic that the turnout of community members will be high.
“Last [Food Truck Friday] we had the biggest crowd we’ve had, so hopefully with movie night we’ll have even more,” Beacham said. “To use [the amphitheater] for something like this will be great, and it’s close enough that we can just tell everybody at the food trucks that the movie is right down the hill.”
The Dawsonville Farmers Market pavilion is at 82 Allen Street, and Main Street Park is behind Dawsonville City Hall at 415 Hwy. 53 East. For more information or updates on the event, go to the City of Dawsonville Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/cityofdawsonville/.
