Car show, charity ride coming to Dawson County this weekend

With summer vacation nearing a close, now is the time to make the most of the days that are left before school starts back. Here are a couple of fun events happening this weekend in Dawson County that the whole family can enjoy. 

Fourth Annual Lighthouse Academy Car and Bike Show - Saturday, July 31

This Saturday, Lighthouse Christian Academy will host its fourth annual car and bike show at Rock Creek Sports Complex, 445 Martin Road. The event will serve as a fundraiser for the school and open to all members of the community. 

The car and bike show will be from 9 a.m. to noon on July 31. There will be food, prizes and games, with car and bike entries eligible to win several prizes. 

The prizes will include Best of Show, Best Truck, Best 4x4, Best Rat Rod, Top 10 of Show and Pastor’s Choice. 

The cost to enter the show is $25 per car and $15 per bike. For more information about the event, visit

Second Annual Road to Recovery Ride - Sunday, August 1

On Sunday, local nonprofit Pathfinders will hold its second annual Road to Recovery Ride, an event aimed at raising money to help local families recovering from addiction. 

The event will be held at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, 415 Hwy. 53 from 1 to 3 p.m. The motorcycle ride will take off at 3:30 p.m. 

The event will include live music, bouncy houses, barbecue, ice cream, and raffles for Pathfinders gear. 

All money raised by the event will go to support local families in recovery. For more information, go to
