Update: as of Wednesday May 25, the event has been rescheduled from May 26 to June 17.

This June, Atlanta Motorsports Park will host its “Cross the Finish Line” grad night, honoring the graduating seniors that make up the Class of 2022.

The event will allow Dawson County High School graduates to drive a lap at the track and to get a commemorative photo taken at the finish line as a truly unique way to remember their graduation. There will also be a limited number of discounted karting sessions available for those who RSVP for them.

The event will take place at Atlanta Motorsports Park (AMP), located at 20 Duck Thurmond Road in Dawsonville, on June 17 at 5 p.m. All participants must bring signed waivers, and minors under 18 years old can have a minor waiver done in advance and bring it to the gate for check-in.

Graduates interested in attending the event are asked to RSVP ahead of time at All waivers are available to print under the Eventbrite link.

The grad night event was begun in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to help the graduates celebrate despite so many plans being disrupted. This year, the event is back by popular demand from several AMP members who suggested it should be brought back.

This year’s grad night event will be made possible by AMP Owner Jeremy Porter, COO Jane Dwey, CEO Donna Lee and Drive Strong Program Coordinator Emily Crane. Drive Strong, Alliance Together and the Zappendorf Family Foundation will present scholarships to the top three ranking students and a few other students at the event.
